Wedmore is one of the loveliest and unspolit villages in Somerset, its 14th Century Church known as the Cathedral of the Moors. In King Alfred's time, it was surrounded by water and still can be, for this reason it is known as the Isle of Wedmore, situated in the Somerset Levels, South of the Mendip Hills. For the last 2 years it has won Silver Gilt awards for Britain in Bloom. In 2009 Wedmore won a Gold medal in the South West in Bloom competition and was also awarded a Gold Award by Britain in Bloom.
